Elements from my style model

i chose to use the element that is used in the evening post of having a column in the left hand side regarding who to contact with inquiries with and questions or problems, I also chose to use it as I feel its a feature of the evening post that gives it a professional look and therefore I wanted to try and incorporate that into my own work.
The column also contain insight into the regular features that the paper contains which is a feature that gives the reader a clear idea about what the paper will include.

I also chose to use the ears at the top of the evening post as inspiration to use in my own paper. I chose to use this idea as it is also done by national papers such as the Sun so I felt that this is a convention of a paper that should be followed in order to make my paper have a professional look.
It is also a way to advertise and broadcast the features of the paper, which I did through the lonely hearts ad and also a way to increase readership and sales of the paper which I did through the competition to win an Ipad 2.

Practice photos

Through taking these photos I was able to learn about the lighting on the finishing shot of the pictures. I was able to adapt to the time of day, natural lighting and inside lighting to improve the quality of the overall finished picture, which is done before editing the picture on photo shop.

My audience

The audience of my paper I think is directed at people in the community who are concerned and interested in current local issues, and I feel that this may make the paper appeal to a higher class as many other local papers I researched I felt did this also.
I also feel that members of the local community with a lower social rank wouldnt be as inclined to read my local newspaper as they would be more likely to read national newspapers such as 'The Sun' or magazines such as 'Take a break' for real life stories and gossip for escapism from their everyday life and community.

Another group of people I feel that my paper may attract is paprents of the lcoal area as they may be more inclined to be involved in the lcoal community and to keep up to date with local events and town concerns for their children and their best interests.
The age of my target audience I would say is 28-upwards as I feel the older generation would be a main source of readership for my product as they have more time freely avaliable to put back into the community and are more likely to have a higher interest in local news and events opposed to younger people and teens whose interest tend to be on national papers and magazines.

Advertising

I think that through making a radio advert and through making a poster this will help to increase the audience and readership of my paper as I will be able to reach a wider range of people.
This is due to different people of different ages and genders listening to the radio to who will listen and hear the advert and buy it from this.

It also depends on the type of people who are more likely to stop to read and look at the poster depending on the areas that the posters are distributed to who will be influenced by the poster made to who will purchase the paper from this.

In order for the advertising of my product to be successful it is important that I distribute the advertising in areas and places that are likely to be more accessible to my audience.

In order to achieve positive results from my advertising and in order to increase sales I would need to ensure that both my advert and poster were available to my audience.

To do this, for my poster I would advertise throughout the local area through distributing it around local shops, town halls, schools and around different street areas. This will ensure that a diverse range of people will see the advertising of my paper and will encourage sales throughout the areas, through using schools and town halls for advertisement I think this will mainly reach my target audience but through using local shops I think that this will enable me to broaden my audience.

To do this for my radio advert I will need to broadcast my advert to local radio stations so that the people in the area who listen to the local stations will be able to hear about the new paper available to them in the area. I think that the radio broadcasting will mainly affect my specific audience directly which will not include other people in the area which is a limitation of using the radio to broadcast as mainly older people in the area will listen to it, however it will still increase awareness of the paper which is a positive aspect.

My poster

I also made a poster to advertise my paper.
I made the poster on indesign, and as this was the last element of my paper made in the software I felt alot more comfortable in making it.
My poster is ver plain in colouring as I wanted to keep it attactive to my audience, and I also didnt want anthing to overpower the message and advertising of my paper.

I chose to use a variety of fonts instead of colours which I felt helped to address my audince in a more clear way as the fonts all attract different attnetion.
I wanted the main aim of the poster to be about broadcasting the papers main features as a new local paper, so I advertised the paper as new, with a prize for readers and its cost witch all are done so in different fonts to make the poster more appealing.

Creating my advert

I created my advert within indesign, I chose to do this so that the advert I was making would fit acurately into the space which I alocated it to go, and also so that I had the range of fonts avaliable to me so that I could choose the font that I found most appropriate.
I chose to use a font that is more create as it is an italic font with more spiral shaped writing, I chose this as the advert is for a card shop so it therefore fits in  with the creativity. The font is also in italics which I feel adds character and captures attention, which is why I chose to use one large advert offering a discount in a local shop as I fel that it would fit well in the tone of the paper.

To make my advert I chose a bright orange/red colour to enhance the look of the advert acompanied with black font that would again help the advert to stand out.
I also made sure that my advert was put in the layering system so that it would be easy to fit into the rest of my paper and keep a clear finish.

The Layout of my paper

The layout which I chose for my paper, on both the front and inside page was to be in four collums.
Through doing this I was able to keep the overall finish of my product neat and clear and ensure that it gave the finish of a real newspaper.

I chose to use 'ears' at the top of my paper to attract the audience on the content of the paper and with benefits from buying the paper. This was a feature I found ref;ected in other papers I looked at both globaly and localy each with different scale of prizes to be given away, for example local papers used food or voucher givaways and the Sun used holiday givaways.

I chose to use one advert in the bottom right of the paper to broadcast an offer from one of the local shops. I felt that through using this advert I was able to reflect one of the offers that comunity had to offer and was able to benefit the client and readers as the adverts is informing of a special offer.

I chose to have one small feature story alongside the main picture and headline as almost all the papers I had researched into had done this, therefore making my paper look more professional, I also felt that through doing this I would be able to entice the reader to buy the paper to read more as I felt its important to use a feature story on a different type of genre to the main one to show a diversity in story type and the paper.

I chose to use the feature used in my style model of a collum down the left hand side, which I feel adds character to the paper and gives it a good finished look. I was also able to advertise other elements of the paper and where readers could contact if any problems. It also allowed me to experiemnt with other fonts using bolds and itialics and different colours which encourperating with the layers and seperate headings was difficult but gave a good finish.
